Course Description

This course provides an introduction to the IT concepts and skills needed for those looking to get started in the IT industry, or to upskill in IT generally. The skills introduced in this course touch upon many areas including, Operating Systems Configuration, Cybersecurity, Virtualization, Networking, and IT Systems Hardware. The course also includes an introduction to the hugely varied area of coding and databases.

Upon completion of this course you will be able to:

  • Describe key IT concepts and terminology
  • Understand IT infrastructures
  • Gain an understanding of common applications of software
  • Recognise software development concepts
  • Understand the fundamentals of databases
  • Recognise key features of security in an IT setting

What is the exam like on this course?

The CompTIA IT Fundamentals (FC0-U61) exam is administered online and has a maximum of 75 questions. The question format is multiple-choice and the test lasts for a total of 60 minutes. The passing score for this exam is 650 on a scale of 900.

Do I need specific hardware or software?

You will require access to a PC or laptop running a supported version of Microsoft Windows (the most recent version is Windows 11). Certain content may not work as intended on certain versions of MacOS, Linux, and Android.
