Overview

This course will teach you fundamental software development concepts and basic programming skills. Through this online course, you will become proficient in some of the most widely used programming languages, including C# and web development with HTML, CSS, JavaScript and ASP.NET. You will also gain an insight into database creation, program design and testing.

This is a detailed, broad course in software development, so all students must have a significant programming accreditation as a prerequisite.

Recommended prerequisites:

Any one of the certifications listed below:

  • QQI Level 5 Major Award in Software Development or related (not provided by eCollege)
  • Java Foundations Junior Associate
  • Introduction to Programming using Python
  • Introduction to Programming using JavaScript
If you already have a considerable digital skill set and have a strong interest in specialising further in software development and programming, this course is for you.
All students should have access to PC or Laptop running Windows or AppleOS.
A broadband connection is essential to stream video content.
You only require a web browser to view the content and access web platforms.
